Konenkov's works are a lesson in the history of Soviet sculpture from the late-19th to mid-20th centuries. Sometimes called the "Russian Rodin," Konenkov created works in diametrically different styles, from emotional works imbued with a rebellious spirit to poetic pieces on subjects from folklore.
