Sergey Shimansky. Leningrad
Photographs by a master of Soviet photography, who also helped create a camera and taught art to street children in a commune headed by Anton Makarenko.
These images, devoted to masterpieces by the builders of St. Petersburg (including Carlo Rossi, Domenico Trezzini, Bartolomeo Rastrelli, Auguste de Montferrand and Giacomo Quarenghi), were created by an acclaimed Soviet photographer in the years when the city was called Leningrad.
