Wassily Kandinsky and Russia
The fauvists were inspired by African masks. For one of the progenitors of abstract art, it was Russian baskets and towels.
The goal of this show, celebrating 150 years since Kandinsky's birth, is to draw attention to his origins – chiefly those connected with Russia. It features icons, prints and other examples of folk art.
