Romain de Tirtoff, or Erté, left Russia for good in 1912, when he was 19, and had an exceedingly full and long life. He designed dresses for Mata Hari and Anna Pavlova, created covers for Harper's Bazaar and Vogue, worked with Paul Poiret and Diaghilev, was an artist at Metro- Goldwyn-Mayer, and pursued sculpture for 70 years. For the first time Russian audiences will see 136 of his works from the collection of Mike Estorick.
