Albert Marquet

A pioneer of the fauvist movement is surrounded by Russian admirers – the members of the Thirteen and Circle of Artists groups.

Paintings by a fauvist master, drawn from private collections in Europe and the United States, are surrounded by Russian admirers, in the form of works by Moscow's Thirteen group and Leningrad's Circle of Artists association. Their aesthetic was similar to that of Marquet, who incidentally visited the Soviet Union in 1934.
